Special Thanks to the Administration of http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/ for all the research and hard work they did to find about 99% of the information about my Grandfather.

John David Watson jr was born in Louisiana in 1917 , born to John David Sr and Effie Watson , his early days seem to be very tough , the only record of his father is this 1917 Draft registration card .

Sometime between filling out this card and the 1920 census , John Sr passed away , I have no further information .

John Jr lived with his Mother Effie in Louisiana at his Grandparents house in the 1920 's with his brother and other family members , sadly his Mother Effie then passed away around 1928 when he was 11 .

In 1936 he joined the Navy ,by 1943 he had become a Warrant officer with a specialty in Carpentry .

by 1964 he had rose through the ranks to Commander .

I have been told he made it to the next level of Captain , but he may have received his promotion at retirement and  therefor not show up in the active duty records .

As a very young child ,I did not see my Grandparents much , but when I did , my Grandfather told me many stories of WWII , he talked about being a Seabee and helping build airbases , I was very young and do not remember much of these stories and my Mother was not very keen on me hearing them at a young age , I do remember he had a great respect for Navy and Marine pilots , maybe he helped build some of the airstrips in the Pacific where he would have met said pilots .

A 30 year man ,I am very proud of my Grandfather ,I will continue to update this history as I find more information .
